Netherlands Fellowships Programme (NFP)

Introduction: overall aim & target group

The overall aim of the NFP is to help alleviate qualitative and quantitative shortages of skilled manpower within the framework of sustainable capacity building directed towards reducing poverty in developing countries. More specifically, the NFP is focused on meeting the need for further training and capacity building in a wide range of governmental, private and educational institutions, planning agencies, ministries, community-based organisations etc. The NFP target group consists of mid-career professionals nominated by their employers.

The NFP programme comprises of two sub-programmes, viz. the Academic Programme/Master's degree programmes, training Programme/short Diploma courses and PhD programmes as well as refresher courses, and the Training Programme (NFP/TP). For the majority of courses / training programmes, applicants should hold a BSC or BA degree in order to meet minimum educational requirements.

The Netherlands Embassy in Lusaka will only process applications in the framework of the Netherlands Fellowships programmes for courses that are linked to the thematic areas of the bilateral development cooperation programme between Zambia and the Netherlands like the following:

  1. Education
  2. Private sector Development
  3. Good governance
  4. Health ( Including HIV/AIDS)
